Dublin Airport

    Hi, I note that there are no flights from and to Dublin airport today. Is this because of the weather conditions or is the airport always closed on Christmas day? Thanks

    dublin airport usually shuts for xmas day. airspace controlled by shannon for overflights for the day, but some dublin controllers rostered standby in case rescue helo required to operate.

    there are numerous planes in the sky over europe this afternoon, see flightradar24.com

    inc many over ireland , bound for USA

    are these planes carrying passengers , A ,at all, or B or regular flights, or C ,on extra flights provided to clear up stranded passengers or D , previously aborted flights being returned to their bases?

    These are regular scheduled flights. It is only in Ireland itself that schedules are suspended for Christmas Day.
