Anyone see the Pajero wrecked on the M1? I had been wondering over the last few days in the cable barriers would be enough to stop the Landcruiser. It seems not because the Pajero went through one set and was resting on top of the second set all smashed up. It's a bit of a wake up call that the 4wds are not invincible despite their advantages in this weather.

i think 4x4 drivers are operating on some kind of false confidence in this weathers. Their weight is going to make them a lot worse than cars in the braking department.

Well that inquest this week where a guy died in a pajero should be a wake up call as well.
No seatbelt, holding mobile phone, left road, hit tree. Dead.
His brother was on the phone to him at the time:eek:
Anyone who thinks driving a 4x4 makes them invulnerable is deluded.
I don't agree that the braking is worse, what I find is that there is a lot more mass in motion and if something goes wrong it is a lot more difficult to regain control.

Surely the vehicle he was driving was pretty irrelevant to the outcome?

    If the driver had ...

then there was pretty poor chances for him regardless of what he was driving?

I can't believe he was driving with no seat belt in this day and age. The Pajero I saw today must have been doing a fair whack to go through one cable and halfway over another.

From the look of that yoke - I'd be guessing 2 gallons to the mile! :pac:

I drove past that accident shortly after it happened and there was cars everywhere.

Everyone was doing about 110kmph and then out of nowhere ICE on both lanes until Lissenhall !!!

Road was not treated at all, went from 110 -> 15kmph !!

4x4 is no match for ICE !!
