My house was built about 15 years ago and has floor insulation and wall insulation (probably aerbord) It has also fibre glass attic insulation. I know there is a lot of people having their houses insulated at present , many due to grants etc.Mine would cost around 2 grand and would probably get a grant of around 4 or 5 hundred. Is it worth having it done ? When the walls are already insulated how does this pumb foam work , does it go inside the aerboard or outside or both. Would appreciate your views as I feel it is quite expensive and wonder if it is just a fad or is it just for the grant.
A friend told me that he costed it two years ago and the cost has now increased to the value of the grant !!

How cold is you're house at the minute?

There might be issues with the bead insulations as the walls can't be filled properly as the aeroboard will obstruct the flow of the beads.

Yes it is! If your house your house is suitable it’s well worth doing. One way of proving if it has worked is to get a BER assessor to give your house a rating with and without the extra insulation. However infiltration heat loss (heat loss through crack and drafts) is much greater than heat loss through walls ect. So putting the 2grand into new window (or double glazing) would reduce your energy bill and make your home warmer. Although your window may not need replacing, in that case insulate insulate insulate !!
Yes the cost of pumped insulation has risen in the past few years, but so has the cost of home heating oil, and gas is soon to follow. So the pay back time has remained about the same.
