Insurance - rental car cover

My sister had a little mishap on the roads, with all the ice etc. she has comp insurance, and the car has been taken to the garage by the insurance company. She is with aviva and they told her that she will have a rental car up untill December 30th, to cover her whilst her own car is in the garage. However she has been in touch with the garage and has been told that it'll prob be into the new year before her car is ready.

What i'm wondering is if the insurance company should provide a rental until such time as her own car is ready? That is the logic i'd have, but don't know too much about insurance and these things may not be as logical as i'd hope! so just wanted to see what people's opinions are before i ring to pleasantly demand that the rental be paid for until car is ready! Anybody any similar experience?

Insurance companies are funny in relation to replacement vehicles while you have had an accident, some will provide one until your car is ready, some for a set period weather your car is ready and some do not provide any at all. It all comes down to level of cover you have on your vehicle I know you said she has fully comp but most insurers have various levels of comp cover and this all reflects in your premium. Best thing to do would be ring insurance company and explain the situation nicely and maybe they will give some extra time as a goodwill gesture. Failing this maybe try the garage they may have a courtesy car to provide to clients. Hope she gets sorted out.
