Hey does anybody know if Irish ferries have security checks for bringing hand luggage.

Reason I need to know is I'm planning on bringing back a snake from hollyhead to Dublin.
Don't know if there is restrictions on this . Though if there's no security checks this won't matter as I'll just bring the snake on in my hand luggage.

Thanks for reading any help is greatly appeciated.
    Ciaran

they can pick out the odd car. very rarely though. more of a chance of being stopped in rosslare or dublin but again, rare.

not 100% sure, as far as i know, you stay in the terminal and then a minbus takes you on to the ferry, and same again this side. unless it's changed in the past couple of years.

Foot passengers luggage is generally scanned by x ray machine at Holyhead before passengers board the bus out to the ferry.

You have just ensured that every piece of hand luggage will now be searched in the coming days.

so, once you have a proper cage for it, should be ok.

That said Irish Ferries, like a lot of companies, seem to generally define "pet" as cat or dog :(

I think there is an area down the car decks for pets.

Is it a comman species of snake?
