06 Citreon C5 electrical problems - help!

    Hi

My sister's 06 citroen c5 has yet another electrical problem brewing.

The parking lights and windscreen washer pump have stopped working. All the fuses and relays have been checked and are fine and the bulbs have been changed to no avail. After spending about €2,500 on various problems from suspension to DPF in one year of ownership she doesn't want to bring it to a citroen dealer and dole out more cash unneccesarily so has anyone any quick fixes to check before it goes there? I know French cars can be very picky about what bulbs are used, what ones should we try?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Yes, find a good independent mechanic

Give an idea of your location and I'm sure someone will send you in the right direction

With problems in seemingly unrelated systems like lights and washers
    -check battery connections
    -check battery itself
    -check earths
-reseat any connectors in the vicinity of the battery

It would be good if you have your radio code before doing any of the above.

You're sure that your washer pump isn't blocked or damaged by ice?

I don't think it's any of the above as all other electricals including starting are working as normal. I've checked the earth and the battery is only a year old.

The washer pump stopped working about 2 months ago before the freeze came.

This one really has me stumped

Windscreen washer on my 2005 C5 stopped working during the cold spell. Frozen pump must have caused the fuse to blow. It's a 10 amp fuse, no. 3, in the engine bay under a cover behind the battery. Might be worth checking it yourself. There are spare fuses in the glove box, left hand side.

Bought my diesel C5 about 1 year ago. Fabulous comfortable, economical car but you need to have some bit of a mechanical knowledge to own one. During the cold spell or in the summer the car starts perfectly. In the current mild climate it starts fine from cold, but if turn off the engine after a short run & before it has fully warmed up it can occasionally be very slow to start. Think the diesel heater gets confused. I have found a workaround, turn the key on but don't start. Do this 3 times & start on the third. Has been working for me for the past 3 months (no need to do this in the really cold weather as it never missed a beat) Occasional alarms but off & on always cures. Not too bothered as it only cost just over 5K Euro. Would crack up my wife though.

    T.
