    New variation on the theme.

I won't say name that car because that'll just invite answers like "Tony" or "Kevin".

This pic is in the Photography forum.

    Burn your X X X X we've got snow outside...

    Spot on. :)

You should be working in forensic science. Maybe you are?

It's one of Ferrari's "smoking hot" 458 Italias. Seems to be a recurring theme.

For the record, how did you identify it with only that heap of ash to go on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,363 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

For me it was the alloy wheels.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 542 ✭✭✭5T3PH3N

Alloys are clearly Ferrari's style and I saw one a few weeks ago, and I've read about/seen pics of the 458's little problem;)

People should post pics of their cars covered in snow aswell and we try guess them.

That was another little diversion started recently, but I couldn't find it so went for the New Thread option.

    audi r8?

    Correct.

Another recurring theme apparently. Starting with a production car on a test circuit.

The three exhaust pipes gave it away to me.

do they not use metal in modern cars? If my car burnt, you'd need a crane to take it away, with these you need a dustpan and brush!

    Yes, it's Roast Lamborghini Gallardo.

I simply don't know how you're able to work that out from seeing just a few left-over crispy bits, unless you're a dab hand at speculative Google searching rather than automotive fire scene investigation. :)

Here's just one web page mourning the sacrificial Lambo:
It upsets us to see these pristine examples of rolling sex end their lives like this, but after countless hours of putzing back and forth down the local boulevard, we'd probably make an attempt at our lives too.
    I liked this comment:
I don't care how slick the salesman is, never buy a car with an external combustion engine.

Just look at the front right headlight shape and the bonnet crease, very familiar after seeing tonnes of pics of Gallardo's;)

There is something in what you say.

Someone else started a 'guess the car under snow' thread but that seems to have, er, fizzled out.

I also started a 'guess the supercar from this photo of its deluxe interior' thread but that bit the dust too.

On the other hand, this 'name the heap of expensive cinders' thread has survived considerably longer.

Maybe there's a bit of subliminal schadenfreude going on all round? Which also might be the motivation for this strange website: Wrecked Exotic Cars -- Pictures of Expensive Car Crashes and Wrecks.

Since you're not going to click that link, so you're not, I will just mention in passing that it actually has a sidebar listing the names of pricey cars, all of which are links to photos of wrecks of said cars.

    Don't go there.

This might cheer you up instead:

Y'see, there was also a rear view of the €150,000 barbecue but I thought it would be unfair to use that.

So I used the front view, and what do you know, that was enough for the Forensic Pyrologists. :)
