    hi,
Which way should the lever under sink be to turn off water? It is a red lever which is either parallel to the pipe or pulled outwards, so as perpendicular to pipe? I was experiementing and now can;t rem which is OFF. Thanks!

The convention for lever operated 1/4 turn valves is :

If the handle is across the pipe then its closed, if the handle is in line with the pipe then its open.
