How to become a teacher?

    Hi all,

I have a degree in Law, and I am currently doing a Masters in it.

I was wondering if possible I could become a secondary school teacher with the credentials I mentioned above?

The info I'm looking for is whether I would have to go back and do another degree or would I have to do maybe a year postgraduate in education or what would happen if I wanted to go down this path?

You would have to go back and do a degree in a subject that is taught in Irish schools (and a qualification that the Teaching Council recognises - not always the same thing) and then do a post-graduate education qualification.
Alternatively, you could do a specialist teaching degree such as for religion, home economics, PE or woodwork/engineering.
