Okay guys I've had my iPhone 4 for months now and loved it.But since yesterday my battery keeps draining on standby very quickly, like overnight it will drain about 25% on standby, I have turned off location and restored it but no luck.Have you guys experienced this? I know it comes with a one year warranty so I'm not that worried. Please tell me.

Is your wifi and bluetooth on?

3G, brightness, wifi, bluetooth, having lots of background apps running will rape your battery. If the drop is very fast, it might be a faulty battery

Same thing happened to me a month ago or so. Within a day my battery almost ran out without me using it much at all!

I tried rebooting it and not much help, but after I restarted my phone I noticed that all my apps were running as background apps..... no idea why since I had definitely never run some of them!

Anyway, I manually shut down all the background apps and seemed to improve matters. My iphone is Jailbroken so i've since installed "Remove Background" which lets you close all background apps in 1 click.

Battery life is now back to normal, so do suspect it was the number of background apps running.

Does anyone know why after a reboot every app installed on my iphone was running?

Bluetooth is off.WiFi is on but I always had it on.Rarely have background apps open.I suspect the battery has gone bad.Apparently a lot of people have been having the same problem on 4.2.1.

I'd also be willing to bet the cold is having some affect too

Check what you have running in multitask. Some apps will continue to consume power even if you are not using them. For example Infinity blade.

Other then that, wifi, bluetooth and if you have any push notifications set.

Skype can use up a few percent when left running in the background. Try turning off Wifi and 3G going to bed tonight and see what the drop is in the morning. That will give you a clearer picture of what's going on.

    Hi,

    This happened to me too.

I did all the usual things to conserve battery (dimmer backllight, turn off location and most push notifications etc) but it still didn't help. I turn wifi off by habit any time I'm not in a zone, so that wasn't the issue.

I read a few forums and I learnt that certain upgrades for facebook drain battery, as they are constantly looking for updates even with push turned off.

The solution for me was found on another forum, although I read that it might not work for everyone:

Let the battery drain completely down, so the phone dies. Then stick it on charge and don't go near it until it's fully charged. Sounds stupidly simple, but it worked.

I was finding that my "usage" time was exactly the same as my "standby" time, so I suspect that something was running in the background. But after draining and fully recharging I'm back to about 24 hours standby and 5 hours usage on a full charge.

Thanks guys I'm still not sure.Yes calibrating the battery did work but I have to do that every time. Before I could let it drop to 50 and charge and have no problem. And aren't you supposed to only let it drop to 0 and charge to 100 once a month?
