Some interesting photos of the move from Fort Knox to Fort Benning.

Browse the root directory for a few other photos.

Cheers Manic, can anyone just go in and see them? Even though they're on a military installation? I'm assuming there's some kind of security checks? Also, have you been?

I think the museum is mid-move, not currently open to the public.

At Knox, yes, you could see it. It was located at the edge of the base right next to 31W, so there was a public access car park. I presume Benning will have similar access.

I've been to Patton a few times, but much of the inventory was not actually on public display due to lack of room. Unsure about what the Benning situation will be like.

The best you'll get in the US today is the Littlefield Collection, by appointment only, but we take all comers.

T28 ? Never heard of it before - was it a successful design ?

Is the Patton Museum the place where the staff car Patton suffered his fatal injuries still on display ?

It was originally designed as a self propelled gun to be used during attacks on german fortifications and to knock out german heavy and super heavy tanks. It never entered active service during WW2 though.

    Excellent link
They are taking better care of their vehicle than Aberdeen are anyway. Did anyone see the documentary about the restoration of their Elephant? They (3 people) were only given 5 weeks to do it all from start to finish! What a joke. You'd think they'd have been given at least 2 years if they really cared about restoring it
The episode is on youtube if anyone wants a look

Mean machine . I would not fancy changing an inside track underfire.
