I need to replace my current one. Off the top of my head, I think that
    • PC World
    • Maplins
    • Harvey Norman?
    • Sound Store?

I'll probably wind up buying online, but I'd hate to pass up an option of buying it locally and having it today. Don't want to pay too much over the odds.

You could try MCS computers on Parnell street. They are not know for good prices though..

I had thought about them, but they have a big window and may see me coming.

It's for work, said I'd go for a decent size. I've ordered a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB Sata 8MB Cache 2.5 Inch Internal Hard Drive OEM - Sony Playstation PS3 Compatible in the meantime. €60 delivered from amazon.

Won't be here for christmas, but shortly after I think.

The chinese around Limerick would do them cheaply.

At one point in time in the 90's I used to build/fix/refurbish PC's for a living. MCS was commonly known around limerick as "More Customers Screwed" hopefully over the years their reputation has improved. And unlike
a lot of other companys of a similar nature they are still in business.

    Online.

Shop if you want to be ripped off and pay way over the odds- avoid Maplin and MCS for price. PC World will try sell you something else entirely..

Can be easier and sometimes even cheaper to buy an external 2.5 and take the HD out. Plus you have a cradle that can be used with other drives.

Lidl were selling a 2.5" external 500GB HDD earlier this week for €60:

I did consider de-constructing a caddy, but couldn't be sure that the internal connection would be be a sata one. Amazon has now posted my drive, no shouldn't be too long now.

    Thanks

I've heard that komplett have gone very badly down hill. Lots of giving out on the komplett section here.
