Business - importing from India

    Hi.

I got a proposition from an Indian friend to import goods from India - he is an exporter and looking for a reliable person in Europe.
    His goods are here:
    http://realhandicrafts.com/default.aspx

I would like to ask your opinion what should I do in order to sell these goods? I mean I would be looking (probably) for big shops or even shop networks, just don't know how yo approach them - what do I need to have with me when going to talk about the business?
Do I need to be VAT registered in order to act as an agent? (I wouldn't be investing in buying goods, I would be working on a commission basis).

Thanks for your answers in advance!

Create an E-commerce website on behalf of relahandicrafts.com in which all orders for the Irish market go through your website. Your buyers will not have to pay VAT on goods up to the value of €22. Goods valued from €22 to €150 only the VAT has to be paid by the customer. Get realhandicrafts.com to pay you the commission on the Irish sales as 'web management services' and invoice them for this. If you earn under €37500 from them per annum then you do not have to register for VAT.

Thanks RS, but the way my friend deals is exporting big quantities like 100 or 200pcs per item (depending on items) so E-commerce is not an option here..

Did you start your business with dental supplies yet? Have you approached anyone yet? If yes, I will need to talk to you in more detail ;)
