next episode is this sunday at 7pm.
they'll be in ireland next week. seems like whiskey talk for that part.
Oz Clarke and Hugh Dennis are on a mission to revive the good old British pub. Their plan: to scour the British Isles for the best independent drinks, soak up pub culture, and then open a pub of their own, packed full of drinks from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. As they can’t agree on what makes for the best of British and Irish booze, they will open two bars that will go head-to-head for one night only.

No, I didn't brew it -- there were a few spare beers that were given to non-brewers. Microgirl's Red Diesel wasn't hers either. The Centennial Ale that won was by Thom who is now head brewer at Trouble and may have been one of the prototypes of the beer that became Ór.

    episode 2 26th:
half in scotland, half in ireland. they went to seans bar in athlone drinking irish cream. then on to taste galway hooker

    episode 3 27th:
they went to a beer festival which was the highlight.

those guys seem to be actually annoying each other, they defo annoy me anyway

summary, watching people drinking isnt as good as drinking!

I watched the second one and to be quite honest the programe was neither here nor there ... gave the old IDL mantra on what Irish Whiskey is (Triple Distilled for Smoothness) so their research was pretty crap. But I suppose any UK programme that highlights Irish Whiskey and independent Irish beer can't be a bad thing.

Watched for the first time tonight, they created their own pub for the programme, was nice to see Galway Hooker on tap there, I avoided the other episodes as I find your man "Oz" to be a insufferable prat, why do they always have smarmy, condescending Little Englander types as presenters on these types of shows? At least your man James May wasn't on it, he's even more irritating! The great Michael Jackson is very much missed on tv, a witty, humane gentleman, who's main focus was the beer, not unfunny nonsense.

I thought the scene with the Porterhouse guy covertly dropping off good beer to the oyster festival was brilliant. :D

just watching the last episode, they visited a so called 'parlour inn' ie a pub that is literally a public house, no bar, drinking in someones living room basically! apparently one of the last of its kind in Britain, which is a pity. anyone know of anywhere like this here? with the state of the pub industry at the minute i'd be surprised...

There was a pub like that near Scarawalsh, outside Enniscorthy on the main Dublin Road (N11), but I'm not sure if it's still going.

I loved the idea of the "Mayor of the pub", that was class. I have met a few "Mayor's" of pubs before I think. Just did not know what their title was until now!:)
