Just heard it on the news, that's brill but a day too late for me, I was up there today but tbh I took the train as the roads looked dodgy in and around Dublin.

The Motorway stops at Naas in Co Kildare just so you know.

Common mistake though. I see your point though in general as it is the last piece in the €18bn Interurban road network.

Just so you know the Newlands Cross works are due to start sometime in the future which will just ruin all the good work of the M7/M8/M9

They do. It's only after the Carlow onramp at 8:00-10:00am where the overtaking lane(s) is/are crammed with losers.

There is only one Toll though at ONLY €1.90 for 186kms of Motorway. The poor feckers in Cork have to pay TWO TOLLS.

People from Galway have to pay TWO TOLLS.

We get off fairly lightly to be fair and if you ask anybody who managed to traverse the N7 on a regular basis they would likely have paid a little bit more to have a such a good road to travel.

Agreed, Bertie.... a small price to pay to never see Moneygall, Toomevara or Roscrea ever again. :D

Do you still have to go though Boring-un-Unnecessary?

If you join the Motorway along the Southern link road then the next time you meet a town is Dublin town. It is 120kph the entire way to Naas, then 100kph onwards. Motorway and HQDC all the way.

No borris on Garda in the bushes anymore. :D

The official opening ceremony is cancelled but the road is still opening.

I've driven to Dublin countless times and the only place outside of dublin you ever see garda late at night is there, not once, ever have i seen a checkpoint anywhere near the motorway, but a few times I got the "where have you been, where are you going?" <--insert culchie guard accent. going through borris

There are nearly always a speed checkpoint parked outside the Garda station(lazy sh*ts) in Moneygall. Screw you now!! :D

The road to Gort is great, the road to Cork is great if you use the Hospital/Ballyanders route and the road to Dublin will be great.

I also wont have to slam on the brakes anymore in Toomevara because a van/truck/jeep driver decides at the last minute he wants a breakfast roll in Centra.

I wont have to worry about that lovely overtaking stretch between Dunkerrin on Roscrea and that a Gatso/Garda are hiding along it. Further along just so you knew(bit late) the GTC used to love this spot on the way in. They used to park reversed up an L road / private access.

Avoiding all those slow drivers and annoying trucks at 5:30am. Zhooooom :D

I also wont have to worry about the desire of eating in McDonalds in Roscrea at 6:00am. :D

Also bye bye to beeping the horn at just past 6am in Borris in Ossory to walk up the travellers who decide to live on the side of a public road. :D

Postponed. Somebody has to officially open it at some stage just not right now. Expect the road to be closed in the new year for a few hours.

Do you wake up homeless sleeping rough when you're out after a few pints also? Or is it just because they're travellers.

Surely you mean wreckless and dangerous behaviour of having your family live on the Emergency lane of the main Limerick to Dublin road.

Report them for not driving on the left. It is a penalty points offence for not driving on the left. Overtaking Lane is for Overtaking only, not for sitting there driving while the driving lane is free.

But once it done it be even better again. They badly need to widen to road from Portlaoise to Nass to three lanes and Nass to Read Cow to four if they are not enforcing keep left rule!!
