so last week i took my car into a mechanic to get a new wiper arm put on, after a week and waiting and stress without the car its still in the garage, the peugeot man has been to look at it and theyre saying they think theres something wrong with the main computer and they cant make the car work anymore.

i dont have money to scrap this car and buy another car!!
is it possible that this happened?? can i buy a new part or what?? they dont seem to know much, and i dont know what to do next, it was fine going into the garage and now im f***ed. i will hear more from them tomorrow but i thought that theres a lot of more expert people on here!

Sounds strange to be honest. Get them to detail in writing everything they've done to the car.

I assume it was going in for a purely mechanical fault on the wiper arm??

the wiper motor had gone so i only had one working one, the whole arm had to be replaced, while i was waiting for the part he gave it a service, went to collect after that with the spare wiper part, told it would take 5 mins to fit, went home to await a phone call with final price on service etc, rang back said battery was flat, next day rang said theres a big problem with car, wont start.... etc. now im here, ive no nct because i was waiting for the arm to be fixed, i dont know where i stand legally, the car was driving fine! am so upset now i dont know what to do.

I wouldn't be paying them anything extra. Sounds like it might be an imobiliser problem, possibly caused by the flat battery. It could also be another issue, some one will need to do some basic tests and plug into the diagnostics. I wouldn't be replacing the ecu as a first step...

    What model..year..engine have you got..??
Does sound like the bsi is at fault....the bsi controls lights..wipers..immobiliser etc.
If the bsi was o.k. before you brought it to the garage then i'd be expecting them to sort it out for you.

Theres hardly 2 seperate motors for the front wipers is there? If one wiper was still working then that suggests a mechanical fault.

bit of a long story, but last xmas( car is jinxed im sure) the timing belt went, so got a new head gasket fitted and valves etc etc, when i picked the car up the wipers rubbed on the inside of the bonnet, a spring had gone on one of them so it wouldnt wipe, took it to peugeot they said the motor had gone and that the whole lot needed replacing.then the old wiper arm that was working wouldnt work with the new arm so had to get that replaced this week as well. grrrrr:mad: and then.. and then... and then... and then.....

The 407's have two wiper motors alright...this is the wiper assembly for the 307.
