Parents live in Letterkenny, so hoping to get the Saorview channels plus Freeview channels from the north (if they can get a signal)

Would this box do the trick do you think?

    Alba STB300HD

    Cheers

I dont think you will get any of those boxes (except the alba)before christmas in derry. If you find any stock let us know.
Try Irwins in Letterkenny for a saorview walker box. Expert electrical had them on their christmas flyer

Got into Derry today and picked up one of the Alba STB300HDs in Argos - I needed to get something, so that will have to do.

Not getting Freeview channels but Saorview working grand, stuttering a bit here but I think that's my crap aerial - still have to test it up in folks' house, they might be able to get the UK stuff there

Success with the Alba - signal 100%, quality 93% - text, info, guide, etc working correctly - unfortunately no UK channels, think the signal is coming from Strabane, anyone know if Strabane is due to broadcast the UK stuff?

...Just checked out Freeview - looks like have to wait a bit to see...

Excellent that you're getting the Saorview channels and text etc. on the Alba. Bonus if you also pick up the Freeview channels:D

Note: I think that Strabane will only be transmitting 2 or 3 of the 6 Muxes after DSO... The Strabane signal is very strong in Letterkenny - most houses seem to get their BBC from there - apart from those getting Freeview from Limavady. You can usually tell those who pick up the latter by the arrow-shaped antennas.

No real full spec on the currys website, but will both these pick up Irish DTT?

Would this ? Again difficult to get a full spec.

No it is Freeview only, it would have to be FreeviewHD

FreeviewHD has MPEG4 so is compatible with Saorview. Bog standard Freeview receivers are MPEG2 so will not work.
