Would I be mad to trade a 05 Hyundai Tuscon 2ltr petrol 77000kms for a 06/07 1.6ltr Opel Vectra petrol 90000kms in the new year, also would a vectra have the power to pull a 16ft caravan? All thoughts or suggestions welcome, basically the Tuscon is expensive on juice/tax etc. but I own from new so know its reliable:confused:

I'd stick with what you have tbh...how much is this costing you?

Thanks for the reply, the vectra I'm looking at is €5995, I would be happy to straight swap as I know I'm not going to sell the Tuscon for any more than this but the garage has no interest in this type of transaction which is fair enough I suppose, don't really want to fork out any cash at all, maybe I'm wishful thinking:rolleyes:

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

You need to look up the specs to see if it would even be legal to tow a large (heavy?) caravan with the Vectra. A small petrol engine doesn't help the towing. Diesel would be much better (lots of torque available at low revs) and the 4WD of the Tucson also helps. Anyway the difference in motor tax is only a couple of hundred per year, nothing compared to the other / total costs of either car.

What's your mileage? If it is well over 15k-20k miles per year, you might consider a diesel saloon car (The Vectra 1.9 diesel is a good engine), otherwise I'll second EPM in suggesting that you keep your Tucson!
