Looking for some help I opened a paypal dispute for an ebay item I bought. The seller agreed to a refund. I clicked accept and closed my dispute only now the refund transaction is showing as denied on my paypal account. Does this mean that the seller didnt have sufficient funds to refund me. I cant seem to reopen the dispute and am unsure of what to do next. I have emailed the seller but as yet have not had any response. Any advice is appreciated Thanks

You never close a dispute until you either have your goods, or your money back. Once a dispute is closed, it cannot be opened. Since you closed the dispute before you got the refund, the seller was free and clear. There's nothing you can do now.

It's a common tactic used by dishonest sellers. They say they'll give you the refund to get you to close the dispute, then they don't have to do anything. I've seen it a number of times. I always reply that it would take less time to click the refund button, then to reply to the dispute with false information, and immediately escalate to a claim.

Contact PayPal, they will just take the money from the sellers account. Quicker to ring them.

You could try contacting paypal and appealing, but they are not going to take the funds back from the seller. It was your error in cancelling the claim. In future make sure you have the refund or the ordered item before cancelling.

No it sounds like the seller clicked on refund which in turn emails the buyer asking to accept and if done so the claim is closed. The refund then comes from the bank account and takes 7-9 days(echeque) this sounds like the refund failed but since there is a record of the seller offering the refund, they will just take the funds from his account under Buyer Protection.

I did not see that in the post on first glance.
