*LIMERICK* O’ Connell Ave/Upr O’Connell St is closed at Quinn St until midday after a serious crash. Henry St is closed at the Newenham St/O'Curry St jct ater a fire. These closures are close to each other and the Dock Rd is likely to be very heavy as people divert away from the area.

Cheers boss, that wasn't up on any website when I looked and it certainly didn't feature on any of the red raw useless local radio stations while I was diverting around it.

Might have been a pedestrian....6am would have been dark but you are right how can a crash happen with almost all cars crawling along due to the weather!!!
Woman seriously injured in Limerick traffic accident

    Tuesday, December 21, 2010 - 08:09 AM

A woman has been seriously injured in a crash in Limerick city today.

She was hit by a car in the early hours of this morning. It happened at 6am this morning at Upper O'Connell Street.

    The road remains sealed off.

Hope the woman turns out to be ok

Hard to assign blame in a pedestrian/vehicle incident on a frosty morning during Christmas party season. Leave it to the technical examination I`d say.

The traffic management looked non existent in fairness. (2hrs later)

    Folks,

A person has been badly injured in tragic circumstances, I don't think we need to discuss traffic managment or driving styles, someone is no-longer with us and a family will always link Christmas with a loved once being killed.

This thread reminded me about the thread when the UL student jumped into the fountain and died.

People forget human compassion because of the anonymity of the internet but I'm sure inside people do feel truly sorry for anybody who loses anybody especially around this time of the year.

Did not realise she had died when I posted earlier. I see now that Scarecrow had indeed mentioned it a few minutes before I posted.

I thought the woman was still alive, but you are spot on with your comment and I hope mine caused no offence for anyone who knew the lady in question.

No problem Kess, you didn't know.

I don't see any advantage of leaving this thread open to be honest so I'm locking it now, if anyone has any issues with this, please feel free to PM me
