I need a non-contact sport

    Just looking for some help here.

    I'm mad into sport, but I can no longer play any contact sport. About 8 years ago I had a brain tumour (and relapsed 5 years ago) and as a result the doctors say I can't play any sport that could result in my head getting hit.

    Up until then I was a very very competitive person. Played rugby and hurling to a reasonably high level, as well as soccer and basketball. I've tried loads of sports since- handball (both kinds), cricket, baseball, snooker, darts etc. etc. None do it for me. I go running regularly but I just can't get the same competitive edge I would have got in hurling or rugby.

    I'm dying to get out and play sport again. I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas.

    EDIT: I should mention that I have problems with hand-eye co-ordination. Not huge ones, but bad enough to make me very bad at racket sports. Tried tennis, badminton and racketball.

    What about Airsoft? Will obviously need some good head gear and some practice with shooting given your hand-eye co-ordination. I took up Airsoft in preparation for retiring from Rugby and like you I love competitive team sports and I find Airsoft suits, non contact but gets the blood flowing.

    Personally my favourite is running. I try and wedge in a couple of half marathons a year. I know this is not everyone's idea of a sport but I love it as my job is all siting on my ass staring at spreadsheets, I love to just get out and tromp around the countryside, brain switched off just getting fresh air into the lungs. I know it's not everyone's idea of a competitive spot, but I always consider it as competing against yourself, setting new challanges and struggling to beat them. Failing that, I would suggest tennis. I am absolutely rubbish at it, but I have a lot of fun and it is a very good workout.

    I'm mad into my sports too and I had a brain tumour removed in February. Surgery went perfectly, the only thing that happened was that I lost most of the power in my left side but was told that it'd come back after plenty of physio. About 2 months later, I had 100% power again. I was out of the hospital after 6 days and back to work and sports etc. after 3 months.

    I knew that I needed to do something to get fit in time for Championship(which is actually two days away! :eek:) so my friend dragged me along to Tag Rugby. It's non-contact and I absolutely loved it! A league was set up meaning there was definitely a competitive edge to it!! Not only am I keeping fit but it's a brilliant social outlet too! Hope you're doing well! :)

    Archery, swimming, kayaking, track and field all intensely competitive but non contact.
