Was out this morning dealing with a few unwelcome reds. A party of 55 had been seen during the week so headed out to see what coould be done.

We set off at 7.15, was reading -14  I found a likely spot on the edge of the wood while my cousin and his dog walked the wood out. No deer came out so they had obviously moved on or back to where they came :)

Was chatting to my cousin when he came out of the wood when spotted a fox crossing a field of stubble bout 800 yds off. The landowner keeps hens so knew he'd appreciate one less fox. Gave a squeak and he stops dead in his track and looks at me, another few squeaks and he's heading in a straight line for me at a very quick pace !!

At bout 60yds out just before he dipped into a bit of dead ground I gave a little yap and he stops dead in his tracks, bang and 140gr hits him straight in his chest :D Mature dog cub, very very thin and obviously very hungry

Sorry no pics as wasnt gonna dare take off my gloves to get the camera out in those temperatures !!

When I read the title and the above I though you meant foxes, was getting into the car with all the gear when I clicked it :P

Removed some posts relating to wrong information to clean up the thread. There is no ban on deer stalking AFAIK unless someone can document a source with the relevant authority to do so. The only ban in force at this time is >here< (Cheers Daithi55).

No ban on deer Hunting as they are well capable at unearthing grass.
They can also eat bark (reason why guys with broad leaf plantations hate them)

The landowner in question has over 400 acres of winter sown wheat aswell as young hardwood plantations. He tolerates a few deer but started to panic
when he saw so many in one field

Didnt see th other posts that were made but I assume they were all giving out bout me hunting deer in these conditions

I think you are case in point of how deer hunting in snow is just as hard as hunting in any other weather.

I found Sunny weather the easiest to get deer!
As they would be out sunning them selves and licking their nuts :D

One post, shall we say, "disagreed" with you and contained wrong information.

The rest defended you, either way, the thread is healthier without it all.

Well done on Mr Fox, I can't find one for love nor money since the snow.
