Crisis mode -the usb connector on my desire (original one) is busted and I can't charge my phone. Anyone know anywhere in Dublin I can pick up a desktop batter charger that can charge the battery outside the phone?

    thanks

Might not be much of a help but I thought this happened to my phone a few days ago but it turned out to just be the cable that was dodgy.

Could be worth trying a different usb lead?

Afraid I dont know of any external battery charger.

    Good luck either way.

Unfortunately its not the cable - the "male" part of the usb (on the phone) is physically busted.

    thanks anyway.

I don't think it will be a problem it's a standard connection, I actually use the charger from my N97 in my desire to charge it

he's looking to charge the battery when it's not in the phone though, the phone connection is broken.

You could buy one of the cheapish Docks that have an extra slot for a second battery along with another battery. You can then always have one charging, swapping them over as needed.

Something like this: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/deluxe-htc-desire-desktop-charging-cradle-p24549.htm along with a battery.

You won't be able to use the dock as a phone charger but at least you will have 1 battery always ready.
