Tiger for me. Can see him coming back strong at the start of the year. An early win will set him up nicely

Must keep an eye out for him next year, must be good if hes on the list.:D
I think Westwood will keep his ranking, hes just so consistently good its hard to not see him retain his No.1 status throughout 2011.

Defiantly a major for Lee if he carries on striking the ball as good as he has and defiantly see him as number 1 at the end of the year.

Most likely Westwood, but Kaymer wont be far behind him. Can see Poulter getting to no.3

    Ian Poulter
Don't think there'll be much change in the Top 3, positioning maybe...!! Can see McIllroy making a charge towards the Top 5....

McIlroy just needs to put a couple of wins together. I mean he has only won twice yet he is in the top ten in the world.

Dustin Johnson is going to dominate golf in the next few years.

    You heard it here first.

If Westwood continue's his good form, a major should surely land in his hands.

Definetely Westwood for me - 24 top 10's in his last 34 events - fancy him to win a major next year. Also looking at the way the rankings work - 2 years - min of 40 events - interesting if only 2010 events counted Woods wouldn't even be in the top 30 - all his ranking points from 2009 will have fallen away come 31 Dec 2011

Bit harsh considering there were people standing in the bunker. in the heat of the moment you are thinking about the shot everything else is irrelevant. Fancy him for a major this year.

Rors is known on tour as a "bottler", all the talent in the world won't cure that.

Look at it this way, westy has been playing like a mad man even when half fit. The man is a ball striking genius, nad the putter is finally rock solid. Westy to win one of the big four next year and get the wheel barrow out.

No but experience will. That has to be the stupidest comment I have seen on here for a while and I keep an eye out for connos comments. Most other guys his age are busy bottling the amateur events so give the guy a break. He is a world beater and will continue to get better and better.

Please elaborate and inform us where you get your information

Look at his record first, that's me giving you a chance to keep some dignity

I'm regretting replying to this already

Where I get my information? Sorry pal, I don't "get" it anywhere, I have the ability to form my own opinions based on what I have seen. I don't read the latest Karl Morris piece and take his opinions for my own.

As for "giving me a chance to keep some dignity", you want to have a golf debate let me know. I know the game inside out.

It's all relative, I have said before that he is probably the second most talented player in the world, however I have concerns over his "bottle".

What other people are doing at his age is not important, they do not have Wee Macs ability. Rory has himself admitted that he struggles to get the job done on the back nine Sunday. It could just be a similar experience to PH back around 2000, no doubt the lad will learn, but at the minute I stand by my comments.

I've gone for Kaymer here. The guy is such a fantastic player to watch, and his confidence is something else.
I remember seeing him after his win at St Andrews (Alfred Dunhill?), the commentator mentioned he had won 3 in a row "Actually, I won the Ryder Cup too, so it's 4!"
Plus, won't he continue to accumulate points for his wins this season over the next year (not entirely sure how the system works, vague at best)

That being said, if Lee finally get a Major (which I feel he deserves) he should be safe at the top

This is widely reported. It made me smile anyway.
Lee Westwood shared an anecdote in a Guardian interview about flying back from the HSBC Champions in China shortly after earning the top spot in the world.
A stewardess, who knew nothing about golf, approached Westwood to say he had a lovely tan. She asked what he had been up to and he said: “Playing a bit of golf.”
She said: “Are you any good?”
Westwood thought about what to say for a few seconds and then smiled. “Yes,” he
said, “I’m the best in the world.”

You said he is known on tour as a bottler. That's not forming your own opinion that's reporting on the opinions of others. So where did you get the information that he is known as a bottler on tour? You must know a good representative sample of tour players then, yes? Or if not then you can maybe cite media, interviews etc. where tour players have expressed their view that he is a bottler. Thanks.

I'm not naming names, but I know G's manager. We were out pinting last week before the RTE sports personality awards. Just normal golfing banter and the subject turned to Wee Mac. He was saying that Rors is dodgy under pressure, and even cited how Monty placed him in the singles. Now G is known as a "closer". Put then again it is not all down to bottle, most pressure shots involve the putter and Rors is streaky at best. On the other hand he is the best driver in the world, right up there with Westy.

Wee Mac will come good, I have no doubt about that. As earlier cited, PH had similar problems and you'll agree, Paudy done alright in the end!!

Bit harsh. I can see Harrington having a decent 2011 and will defiantly be back in the top 10 next year.

Didn't vote for him, but think he's a decent outside bet. The confidence boost that his Welsh Open and subsequent US Open victories gave him appear to have moved his game onto a whole new level. For the last few months, he has looked capable of winning regardless of where he plays or against whom. Holding off Els, Mickleson and Tiger on a ridiculously tough US Open course while Johnson collapsed beside him was some feat. Chasing down Tiger on his home course, when the rest of the field had fallen away was a bit super-human too. If his current form curve continues, he could easily be number 1 by this time next year. I also figure that is his goal - he plays up the 'OMG I can't believe this is happening to me' but he must have a fiercely competitive mindset to do what he's done.

Agree totally. he could have easily taken it easy after the Ryder Cup but he didn't and won a couple of big events - Valderamma masters and Chevron World Challenge. winning becomes a habit and if he starts of the year the way he finished I can defiantly see him as number 1 as well.

Also believe that the Masters will have a huge bearing on who will finish number 1.
