    Hi there,

Just looking for some feedback on a small snooker/pool club I'm thinking of opening in Tipperary. I'm just undecided on whether it would be better to use coin operated tables or offer the tables by the hourly rate.

I'm leaning towards the non-slot tables as these would be cheaper to buy but i'd be interested to know what you would expect from a club. Would i be keeping the younger generation away by not offering slot tables?

Thanks in advance for your much valued feedback..:)

Just a consumers viewpoint here, not a business owner:

Personally, I can never understand why any club has coin operated pool tables. Whatever about a bar that has a table or two in the corner that anyone can play on. It drives me mad that if you and a mate want to go for a few games, you must bring a hefty supply of appropriate coins with you or else hope the guy on the counter has the inclination and avilability of change.

One place we play in a fair bit takes 20c pieces only and it's 1 euro a game. Four or six of us might go for a couple of hours of pool and therefore need stacks and stacks of change. It's mad!

Surely an hourly rate is far superior for the owner and player? Cheaper to buy, less maintenance, less chance of damage, less chance of losing money when you put it in and nothing happens, less hassle, etc, etc....

Can't see why a younger player would stay prefer coin operated over an hourly rate at all either, unless the hourly rate is ridiculously high....

    Hi Fore Iron,

Thanks very much for the comment, exactly the type of feedback i was hoping for. I can't imagine its fun carrying around a pocket full of 20cents!!!....I think the hourly rate is the way to go by alright, more pros than cons:)

I would regard a place with coin slots as being more of an amusement arcade type of place rather than a snooker or pool club.

are you gonna open up a club in Cahir!!?? :O YESSSSSSSS whereabouts would you put it? Only place really is where the Co-Op used to be.

Also, how many tables would you expect to have? Do you think you would actually make good business though, as only Cahir people would use it, because Clonmel people obviously use Circles.

Hourly Rate is a lot better btw
