Buying Abroad?

    I've been thinking about buying a new Fender Jazz (USA Standard) at some stage next year.. but my problem is that although it'd be convenient to buy it from Thomann, I want to actually try it out before I buy it.

    So my question is...

    Has anyone bought a bass/guitar abroad from say the USA and brought it back here?

    I have bought two basses from the USA with no problems. One was on ebay and the other was a used bass on the "Talk Bass" forum. If you buy from outside the EU, make sure you factor in the import duty as well as the shipping cost.

    If you want to try it out first, you dont have much choice other than buying here, unless you are prepared to travel. Another option would be to get a used one. Keep an eye on www.adverts.ie There are good bargains there from time to time,
