Hi all, I are new to the D15 area so seeking some ideas. Apologies if this has already been discussed - this is my first post on boards so still finding my way about !!

We are hoping to get married in St. Mochta's Church in Portertown next September 2011 and looking for wedding venue within 20-30 minutes drive from the church, Lucan/Kildare area would also be suitable. Wedding party of approx 100 people. Would also consider having the wedding meal in a restaurant if anyone has any experience of that - although love to dance so this may not be a runner. All suggestions must appreciated.

    Porterstown church is lovely!

You have the castleknock hotel literally two minutes up the road.
The crown plaza in the blanch town centre.
    The park plaza in Tyrellstown.

Small hotel, the twelfth lock in castleknock might be a little different.
Or the anglers rest restaurant in the strawberry beds.

Dunboyne castle is prob fifteen mins away.

Liffey valley house hotel in leixlip is beautiful.

    Loads to investigate!

I've been to 2 weddings in Castleknock Hotel - would definitely recommend it!

It's so close to Porterstown Church also......

To Diddler1977, do you mind me asking when you attending these weddings, I've been speaking to some neighbours and they have indicated that the food there is only ok. Thanks again. R

It was when the hotel had just opened - would that be 4 years ago now?

Over the years I have visited the bar fairly regularly. There has been a slight diminishment in bar service since it opened. But their cocktails are great ;)
