    The words of Mark Thompson.

Kelvin MacKenzie, the former editor of the Sun, also on the seminar panel, said he should be able to host a debate about immigration or Britain pulling out of Europe without having to present a countervailing point of view.

I'm confused about the debate, with everyone involved having the same opinions.

    doubt it would take off

britts are not into one dimensional puritanical conservatism , doesnt sit well with thier ironic , self depreciating sense of humour

Could be amusing to see a channel try and do a boilded down Daily Heil editorial line of thinking, trouble is you'd end up with the same handful of faces every day. Kelvin McKenzie, Jan Moir, Peter Hitchens, Richard Littlejohn, Melanie Phillips. UGH!

Sky News is already Britain's Fox News.

people only say that cause its owned by the same guy

    i see no real comparison

    no blonde bimbos
no obvious pimping for a particular politcal party
no obnoxious opinionated commentary of a particular idealogical persuasion

the only similaritys are the snazzy graphics and newsflash reports for relativley minor storys

Kay Burley would seem to fit the bimbo and obnoxious opinionated bit, with McKenzie and Boulton covering the other parts. Sky News is the tabloid/Irish Independent version of news channels.

Boulton is a bit of a headcase, and when Alistair Campbell was on the Late Late he insinuated that Boulton had been inebriated (quote 'tired and confused'), though Tubridy either didn't understand the euphemism or ignored it.

Anyone who seen John Pilger's excellent documentary ('The War You Don't See) on ITV last night will know that when it comes to news on international relations Britain doesn't have an impartial channel. He presents an excellent critique of modern TV 'reporting.'
A synopsis of his opinions can be seen here:
