Viewing other channels on old Sky Digi box

    Is is possible to view other channels on an old sky digi box. I have been trying it but when I try to view the other channels I get a message insert sky viewing card

    I'm sure he means the "other channels" option on a Sky box where you manually scan in channels not on the Sky epg.
    I have noticed this too on some boxes where the "other channels" option asks you to insert your viewing card before it allows this.
    I don't bother much with Sky boxes but I'm sure someone on here will have the answer...

    If the Parental control or "hide porn channels" is on then you need a card and to enter the parental pin (last 4 digits of original card used, if card upgraded in a box, or else last four digits of any other card).

    Watty is on the money here.

    I had this problem on an old Thomson HD box.

    The solution was to throw in an active/live sky card, (doesn't have be paired with the problem box) go to parental settings, enter your pin and hit the blue button to disable all pin restrictions.
    I don't suppose you have an active sub with sky at the mo, OP.?
