Moderator & license

I applied for license for a new gun and ticked the box for moderator & scope. I got the approval letter today but it does not mention moderator or scope just the firearm. Does this mean that I didn't get approval for moderator or will I not know until the license arrives?

you will see an s in the bottom left corner of your licence. you don't need to apply for a scope the yoke on the application form for "sight" is for a night vision scope.

If your license has no S in the bottom left corner, than you may still be approved on the Pulse system. Ask your Garda to check that out for you.

spoke to my super about this today
if there is no S on your licence it is not granted
He missed the tick in the box when he was processing it
said a new licence would by issued from Dublin and if this did not arrive before next wed he could do a letter granting me permission

There was no S on my license. When the Garda checked my cert number against my details on Pulse, it was granted :)

Not sure what you mean. Did you get your license amended?

License came today but no s on the thing..... Is there many of ye have moderators but no S? I know that the letter of the law says no S no moderator, but already a few of ye say you don't have S on license.
It would appear that in some instances that people are approved but don't have it stated on their license (like you johngalway).

Open to correction but using a silencer without having a "s" on your linensce is classed as having an unlicensed firearm.. Sounds harsh I know but pretty sure thats the reality, as they say you need good reason to have a silencer as the same with any firearm.

    Again Im open to correction.

like I said before, super told me no S no permission unless he gives you a grant letter which you must carry with your licence

Again, all I can tell ye is that my cert number has been checked on the Garda Pulse system at the main station in this district. Computer says that license is approved for a moderator. Can talk around in circles about it all week, best thing to do is check for yourselves.

when my licence arrived in the post there was no S, so i rang the FO and asked what the situation was as i had applied for mod, he told me he would get a grant letter sorted for me to have in my posession and use a mod.
a few days later grant letter received:D

lift the phone up and ask;)

super forgot to grant moderator on 223 and did on 243, rang supers clerk she said without a letter of authorisation do not get caught with it, had the letter out within a few day dated 13/06/2013 told me to copy it and keep it in the jeep and next time round send it in with application. think there way a post here where some lad got a new licence issued to him with the "s" on it,, because was not on the first one....

I made contact with my FO and she checked the Pulse system and I am approved for scope and moderator. I asked her if I should have an 'S' on the license and she shrugged her shoulders and said that she wasn't sure. In the case of any query about the moderator that may arise the Guard in question would just check the Pulse system and if I'm apporved on there then there is no problem.
