Hi, i have a 2002 Volvo S60 2.0T, that im getting 300 miles (at a cost of 85 euro) on a tank of petrol, a mechanic said i need a new pre-cat lambda sensor. What millage should i expect on a normal running S60, i drive 50/50 city/motorway. Not sure if i should trade it in or keep it.

    Thanks

    Colm

    I've a 2004 2.0T V70 which I used for about 50/50 city/country driving.
I get 480 miles from a full tank at about 26mpg's average.

That's about 22.5 mpg (assuming €1.40 for a litre of unleaded). A good friend of mine gets the same from his S60 2.0T that recently passed the NCT so emissions are spot on. His is an auto. I reckon there's nothing wrong with yours either, and if there is sorting it won't improve your mpg :)

Used it be lighter on petrol before ?

Only have it a few months, yeah i thought it was a better on juice, i just seem to be always putting petrol in... it did fail the nct on the emmissions...

Well without an NCT it's worth tiny money, with an NCT not much more unfortunately but if that's all it needs to pass (the sensor you mention above) then it's worth getting tested and keeping it, certainly cheaper than changing car :)

    i have 2002 s60 2.0
no matter what way i drive i allways get 420-430 miles from full tank until red light comes up
300 would be very heavy on juice allright..

i had a 2004 s60 2.0T...absolute animal on juice i was getting about 350 miles out of a tank...despite the ferocious fuel consumption it was my fav car ever..pure luxury,i had the cream leather with winter pack(heated seats)...still sorry i got rid but i moved 90km away from work and running it would have been like another mortgage
