Going playing a 3 club comp over Xmas, one of which must be a putter.
Anyone any experience of playing in something similar?

What would you pick? I was thinking maybe rescue and 7 iron

A putter, a 9 iron and... a big bastarding snow shovel.

putter 19degree hybrid and 8iron but would all depend on how long the par 3's where on the course

21 deg rescue, pitching wedge, putter.
    Rationale:
    Par 4s - 2 rescues + wedge and/or putter
    Par 5s - 2 rescues + wedge + 2 putts
    Par 3s - Long - rescue/putter. Mid range - take something off the rescue. Short - wedge + wedge/putter
Hybrid gives you the edge by keeping you on the fairway off the tee but if you stray it gives you options from the rough.
Wedge gives you the edge within 100 yds and around the green plus bunkers.

Personally - Hybrid, 9-iron and putter.

At this time of year I find myself hitting hyrbid for my second shot on nearly all par 4/5 holes anyway so that's a no brainer. Putter, again a no-brainer!

The 9-iron, can be used for pretty much any short-game shot and is still a club you can most likely get 135/140 yds out of even at this time of year.
