I assume this new saorview requires a specific ariel?
How much do these cost and are they relatively easy to align without special equipment?
Also, with a new full HD MPEG4 tv, will anything else be needed?

What part of Mayo are you in and where is your aerial pointing to?(if you have one already existing that is!!!!)

The chances are you do not need a new aerial or any new equipment, all though I can't be sure without more information.

no special equipment, any aerial does the job, indoor or outdoor. The TV spec have what requires to cover the Soarview, so you are good to go :)

Castlebar and Maghera and Truskmore and Cairn Hill are all available in misc parts of (mainly) east and south Mayo. If you already have TV3 analogue you would be pointing an aerial at one of those ( not Castlebar ) and should be able to plug n play.

Belmullet and Achill will be added next year, some time. The only part of Mayo that will certainly have to rely on satellite is SW Mayo

If you are getting your analogue from Castlebar(no Tv3, or you may have a poor TV3 from somewhere else), you will get DTT, but if you have any analogue tv's in your house also you may need to get TV3 from somewhere else for them(for perfect picture)!!!!

Not strictly true that any aerial will work, inside or out.

It all depends on where the OP is and where he/she will decide to get their channels from. An external aerial is usually a better idea unless you live very near the transmitter and can see it.

We still don't know whether the OP has an existing aerial(s) or what the story is!!!!!

    Hi
We have an old aerial for rte that is seldom used as has poor picture. We also have an aerial for the deflector system which gives us uk channels & tv3 too I believe. We have a sky subscription so not in any panic just considering subscription free options for future as if top quality rte can be had on saorview, I would dump the sky card and be happy enough with the free channels on sat together with saorview.
Im near Belmullet with the rte aerial facing south, Ive no idea what its pointing at.

Wait till Achill and Dooncarton go live so, you will need to point the correct 'group' UHF aerial at them. The deflector aerial may even work if on the same hill ( and group) as RTENL
