Anyone have any experience with West LInk Car sales?
they have a Mini Cooper D for sale that I'd like to see, but it hasn't been registered in Ireland yet. I haven't asked just yet,but I'm assuming it had a UK reg.

Does that sound shady? Or is this fairly common?
I'm in Cork so Galway is a bit of a drive so I was hoping to get some feedback on these guys...

    Thanks in advance!

I know nothing about the particular garage in Galway you mention, but it is standard practice for dealers to hold cars in stock on UK reg prior to sale. A legitimate dealer will have Revenue authorisation to do this ("TAN number"). They don't have to register until sold, but must register when sold, ie can't let car out on UK plates.

Hi we bought a Toyota corolla for 10 000 from west link when on holiday in France the battery went and we had to buy a new one 90 euro when back in Ireland we contacted west link only to be told that it was normal wear and tear, so there warranty on parts and labor has no value . just be warned if they lie with one thing they could lie about something ells as well. We only got the car 10 weeks.

A car battery is a consumable in the same way bulbs, tyres and wiper blades are. It is standard practice that consumables such as these are not covered by warranty. You would hardly expect them to replace a tyre when it wears out?

You need to be careful when buying UK cars, have a professional check it out for you, sometimes they might not be all as good as they look.

If I buy a new battery it comes with a warranty. 10 weeks is not good .
they where mixed up with ml and km aswell.

But did you buy a new battery?
Or a used car with a new battery?
Or did you buy a used car with a used battery?
they where mixed up with ml and km aswell.

    What does this mean?

What lie are you referring to in your previous post?

As far as I know, Westlink is Donal O'Connor, who used to be Donal O'Connor Car Sales in Derrydonnell several years ago.

I know that one of the salesmen in Westlink used to work for Donal when he was in Derrydonnell.

Donal used to specialise in imported cars, primarily Japanese. Westlink look to do a lot of UK imports.

If it is the same guy, and if he operates like he did before then you should be OK; I know several people who bought there and were treated very well.

Hi today I got good news from westlink they are going to pay for the battery even though they are normally not under the warranty so that is a very good gesture from them. The car itself has no problems and is very comfortable. I was a bit hasty with my complained and should have waited a bit longer. With this settled I will buy again by West Link.

Visited them during the week to view a car that turned out not to have the spec they had advertised on the web even though I had checked beforehand, bad vibe so I walked as I felt agrieved after taking a half day to visit them.
    Lots of UK imports.
