    Hi Folks,

Basically Im looking to see whether there is standard closure times of Xmas.

Was back at my post office today and got the 2 week payment.

The PO will not be open again until the 30th.

Now my problem is that I will be flying out to Oz on the morning of the 30th so will not be able to collect my final payment that day.

Is there anything I can do?

Could you maybe get a friend to collect it for you on the Thursday and lodge it into your bank account?

A friend of mine had to go to a funeral in England a few weeks ago. She is only getting jobseekers benefit and money is very tight so she needed her money while she was in over there. Both of us went into our local post office together the day before she was due to travel and asked if it would be ok for me to collect her money. The woman in the post office agreed, but said when I collected the money I had to bring with me my friends social welfare card, ID for myself (my driving license or passport) and a signed letter from my friend stating that she gave me permission to collect her money!

I then lodged it to her account.

Could work for you if you have a good friend you can trust with your money and bank account details? Also, we live in a small town - don't know whether Post Offices in cities like Dublin or Cork would let you do this.......
