    Ive just bought a new tv for my kitchen this one:http://www.lidl.ie/ie/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20101216.p.22inch_UltraSlim_FullHD_LED_TV

    I currently have sky + in living room and multi room in the kitchen.

    I see there is a CI slot on the new tv. can someone pls tell me what this is I understand it is to get freeview channels or similar but not sure if it can be used in Ireland. Can you please explain it all to me thanks

    It's almost useless in Ireland. If you already have a Sky multiroom sub for the kitchen, then it's of no use to you.

    It is mainly used in mainland Europe where some providers allow you to use your own equipment. Sky don't permit Sky cards to be used in anything other than Sky boxes.

    Freeview is the UK terrestrial system (aerial based, not satellite).

    BTW - you could cancel your multiroom subscription and plug in an aerial to this TV. This will give you the digital Irish channels (which are not free on satellite). You could then use your old Sky box for the free UK channels (BBCs/ITVs etc).
