Will be moving from job seekers benefit to jobseekers allowance soon. I am 22 so i believe i will be getting a reduced rate.

According to the citizens information website their is an exception to age related JSA payments for "People transferring to Jobseeker’s Allowance immediately after finishing their entitlement to Jobseeker’s Benefit"

Can anyone clarify what this means?

I think it means, whatever rate you're on now, you'll keep it. If you're on the top rate for JB you will continue to claim it for JA, rather than the reduced rate that applies to under 25s signing on for the first time.

However, if you have assets worth over 20k, or you live with your partner/wife, or you live with your parents, you will be means tested on their income. If any of these apply you may not be entitled to claim the full rate of JA.
