I'd say the majority of stores will open on Stephen's Day.

Where is everybody hitting first? Anyone got anything/potential good deals scoped out already? I never go on Stephens Day but usually make a trip before the new year.

Urban Outfitters ALWAYS, Topshop, Brown Thomas, BT2, Office, few of the boutiques around Clarendon St, River Island. The last two years I've been working since the 27th onwards so this year I am gonna go in early :D

I think it's a bit depressing that so many shops are opening on the 26th this year. Why do people have a problem with two days of no shopping?! It's not really fair on retail staff who want a christmas too. Last year the shops in Cork were considering it I heard (and the shop I worked in definitely thought about it), but then they didn't open until the 27th. I remember only a few years ago getting excited because the sales started at around the 30th instead of January. It's been creeping up every year!
Anyway, my favourite sale is River Island. It's the best on the highstreet because they actually put their current stock on sale, and the reductions are great. I heard a little rumour that it's starting very soon too, which makes me happy, as I don't intend on shopping on the 26th. (Although, bad news for people who bought presents there!)
I'd love the BT sale if I had any money! Topshop is good online but the prices are still a bit steep in the shops. Only thing about online is that the stuff sells out scarily fast. Accessorise is the other good one, especially once it hits 70% off.

    I concur!

I won't be doing the sales this year as A. I'll be smashed, and B. I've put on too much weight and want to actually get back into the clothes I already own before I go buying millions.

Villette, do you think River Island are starting their sale before Christmas?? I agree that the the start dates have slowly been creeping up, it's a real shame, it makes so many Christmas presents seem worthless!

I know it doesn't make sense but I have heard that the sale will start mid next week, with full sale starting on Christmas Eve. I bought a few Christmas presents there but luckily I kept my receipts!
Lots of shops seem to be starting the sale - Warehouse, French Connection, Awear, H&M all have sales on. Even BT have some stuff on sale in Cork, and of course Debenhams are really pushing the promotions this year. Their 15% off cosmetics was great but I bought my presents early this year and missed the promotions! I'd say it's to boost sales for December but surely nobody will be shopping in January now??

Yeh I took advantage of the 15% off in Debenhams!

I have bought some things in River Island too but have my receipts, might keep an eye on them for a few days! Warehouse seem to be constantly having a sale, and so do Oasis. I think you're right, unless they're going to FURTHER reduce things after Christmas I don't think the January sales will be any different to what's happening now. It's mad, I'm almost scared to buy anything in case it's half the price the next day! And then if I do buy anything I don't want to take the tags off!

I'll be waiting for the first round of reductions to be over in order to get proper value. So many of our retailers are UK and rip us off the currency exchange that the first round of reductions is usually only enough to get you down to normal UK retail price.

Do the things you bought in RI have the barcode on the tags highlighted?

I'm not sure, I'll check! Do you think they're destined for the sale rack?? :)

If the barcode is highlighted and there are some numbers written in pencil over it, then yeah, they'll go in sale and the numbers relate to the reduced price. So if the tag has 0015 written on it, the item will go down to 15 euro.

For once I think that i'll give the sales a break. Sale value isn't as good as it used to be several years ago. Too many people looking for a bargain these days who think 30% off is a deal.

For me personally, to qualify as a proper sale, you need a minimum of 50% off, otherwise I'm not buying.

Nope, the barcode is clean. Not sure whether this is a relief or a disappointment! At least I can start wearing it! Thanks for the tip :)

If there's no mark that doesn't deffo mean it's not in the sale. it takes time for the shop to mark all items, so some items still wouldn't be marked.

True. Although if it's new stock, it won't be reduced.
