A little advice please. I have a golden interstar combo box which i use for fta, but it doesnt do mpeg4 for the saorview service. I can pick up all the channels but can only get audio.
I plan to buy a new tv anyway so will pick one that will do the mpeg 4 but want to use this box for a second tv. Been told to get a cam card (i've heard its not the ideal solution) but would be cheaper than buying a new combo STB.

Problem is i havent a clue what one to buy. Can anyone recommend one or tell me what i should be looking for?

    Thanks

Cams will not work with HD broadcasts , RTE2 is currently broadcasting @ HD resoulution. When the 2md mux is turned on RTE1 and TV3 will also be HD. The new film channel may also be HD.

In short the main channels are moving to HD using Mpeg4 Level4, Cams can only work with Mpeg4 Level3 which is SD. A cam will be a waste of money.

Joe is right, CAM's are a waste of time and money really.

They don't even work well for SD

    1) Can't do HD at all.
    2) Run too hot, will damage TV
    3) Quality is rubbish due to re-encoding
    4) Extra delay added.
