Performance-wise you'd be wasting your money modifying it as you'll see very small (if any) gains.

Performance wise no there's not much point, maybe nice alloys, lower it and keep it nice a clean :)

Really not. Just sell it and buy a nice mivec :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,462 ✭✭✭projectgtr

Like draffodx said just leave performance alone, maybe pick up some nice OEM Mivec parts like skirts lips and spoiler, subtle and clean is the way to go imo.Furthest id go with performance, well more to finish it off would be a nice subtle exhaust, maybe even an OEM mivec one if it fits, one thing id stay away from is badging up as an EVO or Mivec

    Some mivec inspiration

Sound advice there projectgtr, the Mivec parts will make it look good.

I think Evo parts are way too OTT for a regular Lancer.

    Scrapyards?
They are an old car now started in 95 or 96?
    What is the budget?
Start off with a form of induction/air filter that will give a nice change of tone to the engine, they are quite cheap and almost all car shops will have them in one sort or another.
A proper Hid kit not just the glarey blind everyone else bulbs, kits have also come quite competitive in price and no better time of the year to upgrade your headlight polarity.
Alloys although one of the more pricey ones and tinted windows are always nice.

    donedeal for parts

dont bother sticking in an induction kit - you'll have to declare it to insurance, who won't be happy, insurance goes up, and your performance will probably drop. Throw in a decent panel filter instead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 838 ✭✭✭Gregsor

Not worth getting a panel filter tbh for a 1.3,an induction or airfilter cone will give a nice sound variation which will keep you happy,it would be hard to get any improvements on performance aspects anyway.
I doubt many people would declare an aftermarket airfilter on their insurance myself.
I did once before but the Induction kit cost E700 and it was more so in case it went somewhere else.

Get on to some local sites like dtdirl.com or torque-irl.com people are allways breaking cars, dont forget Adverts too, also you might get lucky with some scrap yards,

personally sites like dtd are the way to go, gets you talking to like minded people plus if something goes wrong theres allways a helping hand.

Thing is though, if you change it it's considered a power mod by the insurance. Leave it undeclared and have a crash, they'll have something to say about it....

doesnt have to be a power mod for it to be declared ;) pretty much anything you do needs to be declared but the process and the attitude of the insurance companies over here is ridiculous they just use their magic calculator

Oh and hi bro long time no talk :D

Well aware, just they tend to have a flashing red lightbulb and alarm that goes off when anything "power" mod is mentioned... visuals they usually don't give a toss about.

"Hi, just like to inform you there's an induction kit on the car"
"Ah, induction kit you say? That'll be an extra 300 euro"

    How're ya keeping anyway?

Just take the airbox off all together or drill a few holes in it, all it will do will give you a nicer noise,

Really all id do is invest my time and money into decent detailing,
Have the car absolutely spotless, It will give you a good point in selling the car in the future too.

Buy second hand standard mivec wheels and bits if youd like.

Wheels and a lowering would be perfect in the car,

Oh and please please dont put stupid Lexus style lights and Crappy massive sunvisors and a loud ass exhaust from halfrauds or planet auto, i see way too many of those lancers like that with those stupid common as muck Wolfrace Kantana's

    Anyway Bull****ing over!

first car - not worth moding. drive it, save up money, then buying something more seriuos.

it is really not worth it to modife such small engined cars. It will look like it can go fast, but puff...
