All the 2 litre CR diesels are all the same engine, but they come in different states of tune. The 110BHP is the lowest state of tune (lowest power) of them all. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as it can be remapped easily if you need more power

Great car. I have two friends with them and they are very happy with them. I think they look funky. They have a fantastic spec. Both are happy with the power from the engine.

The specs are changing... IIRC 2.0tdi becomes a 4x4 and a 4x2 "Greenline" 1.6tdi is being introduced... lower tax too!

    What's a 4X2?

Edit: nevermind - thought about it but first time I heard it described this way!

Is the 2 litre CR diesel engine not giving grief in Passats?

I wish my missus liked the look of them, you either love em or hate em. I like them but she thinks they're crap looking and would rather the Urban Cruiser.

Honestjohn gives them the thumbs up and they look a top car, well spec'd and practical

I drove a couple of the Passats when they briefly put the 2.0Tdi 110bhp in it.

Similar performance as the 1.9Tdi, but much quieter and better fuel effeciency / CO2 emissions.

No issues with the Common Rail 2.0Tdi's - the older PD ones are the ones that give issues.

You have to go Luna spec or higher on the UC to get acceptable spec, evem at that you pay extra for a diesel and it starts making even less sense.

As you know I was driving a 1.33 Luna for a big chunk of last year when they were launched, should have taken a lend of it for a few days.

KIA soul and Hyundai ix20 do it for much less money.

sorry for hi jacking here, but as we're on the subject of crossovers, what do people think of the Tiguan, particularly the 1.4TSI version?

I also see Mitsubishi are coming out with a newer 1.8 diesel version of the ASX and in 4WD with 150g/km CO2 emissions

I've driven a Tiguan 2wd 2.0Tdi. I can't think of anything more pointless than a Golf that handles badly and uses more fuel. As a 4wd it might have a point, but I'd say you'd be better off with an A3 quattro if there is one in a similar price range.

I also believe that the Tiguan is in very, very short supply for Ireland. Even though you don't see many on the roads, demand outstripped supply this year and VW Ireland couldn't get anywhere near as many production slots as they wanted for 2011.

I had the Mitsi ASX 2wd for a weekend last month - that 1.8Td engine of theirs is a cracker. Interior was OK, back of it is very imposing and the EVO (ish) front end makes it stand out. Looks a bit girly from the side though :(

The ASX will be a good buy in a few years time, but I'd leave what I reckon will be frightening depreciation to someone else

Wouldn't mind a spin in a diesel mivec. Is it pretty revvy for a diesel?

Oh sweet god: I thought it looked good too, tbh. But that was an ad. Then I saw and was in one in Real Life. What a tinny piece of...........rubbish.

Of course you could try tell your SO that it's not a Japanese car -but a Turkish one. Turkish delight it ain't. :D At least the Skoda is made in Europe.

I feel your pain. We were looking a while back at what we might get next as we'll need something bigger than our S40 if we're going to expand the clan.

We'd gone up to look at a Superb Estate and I stopped in the forecourt to look at the Yeti. She could sense I took an instant liking to it... "keep walking" was the only thing she said.

    :(

    Urban Cruiser though... LOL!

You would fit the Yeti into the back of the Superb estate it soooo big!

Drove the 2 liter Yeti yesterday, and was taken with it, drives well, and a bit of poke as well.

thanks to all above for comments.

from the few online reveiws I've read of the Tiguan it says it drives & handles very well and is probably one of the best in class for ride & handling

    Any news on my Insignia?

Didn't think it was as good as the ASX. The 2wd is really just a high Golf and did nothing for me at all.

prob look for a 4WD one if went along that route. Seen a couple on carzone worth looking at...failing that, wait a year or so and let someone take the big hit on a ASX

    Me too...

Thinking of swapping the C4 GP for Yeti, Ix35, Sportage or I40.. Would love a Superb Wagon, but got over-ruled by the kitchen dragon! ;)

She got it mid january, and is thrilled!

"best car i ever had" she said!!

getting close to 50mpg, overtakes well, a little bit higher than normal cars, but not too high, plenty of kit on the elegance model, and plenty of room.

all in all, very happy she is!

Really? All the reviews I've seen say it's so dull to drive that the reviewer had to rely on written notes because they'd forgotten...

What were we talking about again?

Edit: No, I'm thinking of the Touran. Stupid model names mutter mutter...

According to Top Gear you can fit Sienna Miller in the glove box.

Thats probably a pricey optional extra though!
