Hi, i'm self employed and have just filled out my returns for November/December. I am finished working for th month due to the weather so i will have no more VAT to claim. I got my returns form this morning and have it filled out. My question is will this vat claim still go through in the normal 5 days or will it be the new year before the claim goes through. Just in the run up to xmas it would be handy to know. Thanks.

Unless you are filing on ROS you are very unlikely to get any refund before Christmas. Post is always subject to delays at this time of year.

Why don't you file on ROS - it's dead simple.

Thanks, my accountant did use it online but i was happy enough doing it by post, the business will probably be wrapped up in the next few weeks so no point applying to do it online now.

Do you know if there is a number to ring to see if they got my claim?
