Quad to Octo LNB

    Hi,

Looking to put an Octo LNB up and run an additional sky box from it. Is it as simple as swapping over the LNBs and running an additional cable? Basically I am wondering if it is something I could do myself or would I be best off getting an installer in?

If I do need someone to install does anyone have any recommendations? I have the Octo LNB already and live near Naas Co. Kildare. Price guideline?

Can I buy a sky box and just connect it and have the free to air channels? Do I need to register it in anyway? Lastly, If I was to take a card from one of the other Sky boxes in the house and put it into this new box will my subscribed channels work on it?

I know these questions have probably been answered elsewhere, but I have looked through a good few pages of threads and haven't found anything similar.

    Thanks in advance

    Gareth

Yes it should be that simple, as long as the LNB you bought fits the dish you have. You may have to set the 'skew' on the LNB for the best results. This is sometimes done with a kind of switch on the LNB that is numbered 1-3.

You might be better of installing a multiswitch, these can be used to feed 1000's of points from the one dish. They are a lot more reliable than a octo LNB but may cost you a bit more.

Yeah you can you might be better off buying a freesat box instead though, there's lots of information about these on the forums.

I'm not sure about this but because the card must be paired to the box it's used in, I think it will unlock all the channels except for the premium sports and film channels. You will obviously not be able to do this using a freesat receiver however.
