Are we going to get any snow in Cork this time?:o

Sky News are currently suggesting the UK hole in and stock up until February. Ferries have been cancelled to the Hebrides.

Any idea how long its going to last here?? (Have an extension being built at the mo, and its already 2 months over time and counting. Each day of sub-zero is another day when bricks can't be laid or plaster can't be spread).

Oh, and we're staying in a house (meanwhile) with a very poor heating system and no working fireplaces.....

    Thanks!!

I hope there's plenty of snow in South Tipp over the weekend. Going up the Galtees on Saturday :D Should be a right laugh.

Special all right, specially when you leave in the middle of no where and have no way of going up and down for the essentials.

And the cost of staying worm

But on the weather front, we are in Templeglantine, up the hills or mounts has my other half likes to call it, its getting cold, real cold, soon the roads with be impossible to use again.

    But it is beautiful :)

I wonder will we get a repeat of the snow we got last week here in Waterford. It seemed like the consistent low temps meant that two significant heavy snowfalls of a few hours each were well enough to have snow on the ground for days.

i honestly think, looking at all charts and forecasts that cork has a decent chance of between now and christmas.

It would help a lot if you all put your locations in your profile too. I'll be getting the time-lapse ready for this event.

Well I'm just on my way from Killorglin to Killorglin via Wrexham UK, back tomorrow night. Temp has gone up 6 deg F overnight, now a beautiful morning.
48 hours like this will suit me fine.

Too many threads for me, despite the flotsam in the big, big thread, it was entertaining, I don't have the capacity to follow 5 threads essentially on the same subject.

Recommendations for other weather forums please.

Maybe just keep track of the main nationwide weather thread and this one for Munster? You'll prob get most of your info from them :)

From MT Cranium: Full report in the weather forecast thread quote/

    Wednesday, 15 December, 2010
    _________________________________

Advance ALERT ... Rapid freeze likely on Thursday morning in north, by afternoon in south; cut ...

TODAY ... The calm before the storm, cut ....

THURSDAY ... The main feature of the day's weather will be a sudden change to much colder, wintry weather. The timing of that change will vary from morning in the mid-north, to late afternoon in the south coastal counties. cut ... even blizzards ...... endquote/

Anyone with children would want to take heed, don't leave them waiting for a bus, don't expect neighbours to collect them be more aware than usual of their activities and locations, outdoor sports would be a major concern.

There is a strong possibility of being cut off for a few hours until the front passes and the weather pattern settles [as much as it is going to].

I don't think we're going to get much snow from this cold spell, the wind direction is against us.

Well it looks like nobody will know where the snow is going to be from this, look at what met.ie have posted and note the word random!!!!

"overnight frost and ice persisting by day in many areas in addition to random snowfall. "
