    Hi every1,

ive got my test this friday and doing my final prep now b4 the big day. Ive being getting lessons up to now with a very good instructor. There just one thing i was hoping people here could answer for me and it relates to observation.

say for example im turning right, i thought check mirror, signal right then right mirror as ive being taught. however ive reading afew driving books today and watching vids on drivingtips.ie and they all seem to say its mirror right mirror then signal. are both method correct becuase last thing i wanna do is be mixed up here as ive being doing the first method outlined above?

any feedback is very much appreciated on this , thanks

Either one will get you through the test, so long as you actually do them.

The bare minimum observation is a check of the rear and right mirrors, if turning right and adequate observation of the new road (space you are driving through or into). The mirror checks need to be 'in good time'. There sequence is not specific. Assuming speed etc. are all correct.

However, best practice would typically be: rear, right, signal, rear, right, adjust position, position, speed, gear, looking at the space you are passing through and into, assess, manouver, check all three mirrors as you drive away.

But they are not looking for perfection. Anywhere between these two is fine and basically that includes both examples listed. So you are ok doing what you are doing.

My instructor always uses the mantra 'centre mirror, door mirror, indicate.' It's easy enough to remember.

Mirrors (centre and right), then signal, position, speed, look into new road then final right mirror check.
Don't see why you would signal BEFORE checking your right mirror.
Edit. Oops, just saw the consider thread closed bit. Sorry.
