    Hi all,

I've posted this in the wrong section a while ago, so apologies if it's a double-post.

My 8yr old wants Fifa 11 from Santa. he has a ps2, that he rarely plays, but is getting a Wii from santa that is a surprise. So santa got him Fifa11 on Wii.

He tells me last nite that the game is AWESOME on ps...but not so good on the Wii, as you have to shake the controls up and down (or similar:confused:) and he much prefers the way you can play it on ps, pressing the x or the o etc.

I'm completely clueless and am wondering if he's right (first of all) and if I santa should exchange the Wii game for a PS2 version? Any advice appreciated thanks.

There is no need to shake the controller to score, it has support for a classic controller, so played the "normal" way of pressing buttons to move etc. There is a couple of control options though, so plenty of choice.

Probably wouldn't be much difference between PS2 and Wii version.

If he has played the PS3 version rather than PS2 version hes right, the PS3 version will be significantly better.

Yes, he's played the ps3 version recently iin his friends house...unfortunately, santa coudln't quite afford a ps3 this year for our house:(

Anyway, do you reckon I'll stick to the Wii version? The Wii will be plugged in the living room tv...his ps2 is in his bedroom and on 14inch portable....????

If you say he can press the buttons for the Wii version, then I'm sure it's not THAT different???

Do you have the classic control?

If so, then the control system will be very similar to what hes played with a PS2.

If not, you can still play with button presses alone with Nunchuk/remote (maybe the odd shake), or you can play a minimalist scheme (not recommended IMHO) with the remote on its own.

    No it's a remote and a nunchuck I'm afraid...

Is the actual game the same on the screen though? Ok, hands up, I'm not a gamer so haven't a clue but is there a real difference in how you 'control' the play of the game depending on what hand held thingy you have???

He's 8 like I said, and has Fifa 10 on the PS2 already - only really got into it when it was snowing though and my guess is as soon as it's dry out again, he'll be back outdoors kicking a ball...thanks again

It will look very, very similar on the screen. Not a big change from fifa 10 on the PS2 though.

If he doesn't mind the odd shake here and there, its a good game on the wii. Classic controller would be better, but I know money doesn't grow on trees, and it would be around 20 euro for one. It all adds up!

Control options summed up here: http://www.wiinintendo.net/2010/12/06/review-fifa-11-wii/

FIFA 11 permits three different control styles. “All Play” returns with Wii Remote-only control. The computer AI will control player movement while the player controls passing, shooting, tackling, and fundamentals. If you feel up for taking more control, you can attach a Nunchuk or Classic Controller. The Wii Remote and Nunchuk option opts to not use movement for shooting this time around. Instead, it has been mapped to a button, which feels much better. Shaking the Wii Remote initiates a slide tackle (11v11), knock on (11v11), or wall pass (streets); shaking the Nunchuk makes your player perform a self-volley. The Classic Controller is fairly equal in its abilities. However, it is recommended to use the Classic Controller Pro, as it is somewhat difficult to hit the ZL or ZR buttons, which are used often in “Hit the Streets” mode. The only thing I see missing is the ability to completely customize your controls, as you must stick with the preset configurations.

Really appreciate that info, thanks alot.

I've decided if he doesn't want to do a little bit of shaking on the Wii, he can run upstairs and play with the FIfa10 game:D. Have bought one other game for the Wii for him, and no doubt he'll want to switch around when he gets bored with that.

    Thanks again.
