Have medical card but now working....

I was in hospital for good amount of this year and was granted a medical card due to the amount of consultant appointments needed and cost of all of the medication.
I was on illness benefit but after a good few months of getting back on track I went back to work in October.
My medical card is still in date but im wondering now that im working again is it null and void?
I'm not on much more than minimum wage so money is still rather tight but i wouldnt sacrifice being back at work for anything, i feel rather lucky!

Can anyone help?

You might be entitled to hang on to it (see here: http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/credits/long-term-unemployed-return-to-work.html and read Leaflet IT 58 - Revenue Job Assist - Information for Employees ).

There's also a comment here (http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/health/entitlement_to_health_services/medical_card.html) that you may be able to retain it for up to 3 years.

Best thing to do is let the Health Board know that you're back at work, and ask them if you'll be getting a new card next year.

Thank you so much for the link to that leaflet, really helpful. In all I would have been out of work for 12 months between hospital stays and time needed for recovery.
Im just happy to be almost over it all and back to work, if they dont renew the card I dont mind, it would more be to retain it for the next few months it is in date to help with the medication costs and me getting myself back on my feet however!
