Medical on the Medical

    Just back from my gp and the receptionist said that i cant get a medical on the medical card I wanted this done amongst a new prespription i needed but she said i had to pay now the reason I have a medical card is because I cant pay. is she correct in what she is saying

    AFAIK medicals are not covered by medical cards, so yes,the receptionist would be correct.

    This has come up before, the Medical card does not cover "everything", it cover the GP visit if you are sick, but not if you want a form signed, or (as you discovered) Medicals.

    My suggestion is to ask the reception what tests are covered, and ask for these to be performed. Also take a note of any particular things you noticed about your body/health and ask the GP about these too at your next visit.

    A medical is usually a written report of your medical history, and may contain some tests. What exactly do you think it entails, or why did you want it done?
