I have a few months left on the ins policy of my car but the car itself has to be taken off the road due to some severe corrosion. I can get a free transfer of this policy to any other car. Will this work if the other car is already insured?

Nope, can't have two policies on one car, only one person can have an insurable interest in a vehicle.

    Thanks RoverJames!

Odd scenario of being 6 months through a 1 year policy paying monthly (*10) and the folks from aviva made it all sounds more confusing than offering a solution.

Cancel whichever policy will give you the biggest return and carry on using the other one.

If either policy is in it's first year, it will most likely have little or no value in cancelling. But a policy you have had for a few years may pay out pro rata for the remaining months.

Just transfer your insurance onto the car once you have policy in place. Make sure that you have NCT etc . I recently rad a major run in with my Insurance over not having a NCT on a car that I was using and ran into a flood with it and they would not pay out . I was only using it because my own car was out of action with gearbox trouble. When I found a gearbox for my own car they wouldnt insure that again until I had A NCT on it so beware of Wrightway Insurance. Tesco is the best value for Insurance I will save 200 euro when my renewal comes up in January.
