iTunes duplicates not in iTunes folder

Hi There, I hope I'm not asking a questions that was answered already, if I have please direct me to the answer because I couldn't find one!

So my problem is that iTunes is showing multipe copies of music files. In the iTunes folder on my hard drive there is only one copy of the file, it is just that iTunes is listing it twice. When I checked the file location of two duplicates, they had the exact same file path.

There doesn't seem to be duplicates on my hard drive, I have used a duplicate finder program and it is not finding any duplicates, it is just that iTunes is seeing a lot of files more than once.

Has anyone else had this problem, and do you know if there is a fix for this? Would my best option be to delete iTunes folder and the iTunes program, reinstall and load my library again from MyMusic? If there is a quicker fix I'd really appreciate it. I have a lot of music so to delete and load again would take ages, especially having to find album infor and artwork!

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I feel like I'm going in circles trying to fix this problem, all I want to be able to do is put new music onto my iPod :(

    Janeymac :D
